Dr. Santana R. Simple

Behavioral Health Director

Dr. Santana Simple is a native of Houston, Texas, and a proud former student of Texas A&M University, where she earned her B.S. in Psychology and M.P.H. She furthered her education with an M.S. in Counseling from the University of Houston Clear Lake and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from Sam Houston State University. Dr. Simple is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor with over a decade of clinical and leadership experience.

At UHPhealth, Dr. Simple plays a pivotal role in developing mental health clinical services, policies, accreditation, and interventions for all communities. Her responsibilities include crisis assessment, behavioral health programming, and clinical coordination with therapy providers. As a clinician, Dr. Simple practices a holistic liberation psychology model of therapy, focusing on creating a safe space for clients to embrace their values, engage in healing, and regain personal strengths.

Additionally, Dr. Simple is an active presenter at conferences, where she shares her expertise on topics such as suicide prevention and intentional healing interventions.

Melany Villarreal

Mental Health Therapist

Melany Villarreal is a dedicated Mental Health Therapist with a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Houston and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington.

At UHPhealth, Melany is committed to enhancing the well-being of her patients through compassionate, evidence-based care that promotes emotional resilience. She focuses on building trusting therapeutic relationships, empowering individuals, and assisting them in navigating mental health challenges to achieve their therapeutic goals.

Melany is bilingual and has extensive experience working with children and teens, utilizing Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She is also a Certified Trauma Professional. Outside of her professional life, Melany enjoys constantly learning, reading, and playing and coaching basketball.

 

Danielle Jenkins

EMDR, DBT

Mental Health Supervising Therapist

Danielle is a dedicated Mental Health Therapist and Supervisor with a Bachelor of Science degree from Howard University and a Master of Social Work from the University of Houston. She is also a certified consultant-in-training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

At her practice, Danielle finds great fulfillment in supervising others and fostering their growth as therapists. She is passionate about helping clients share their stories and transform their negative self-perceptions. Her areas of specialty include trauma, PTSD, suicide, self-harm, and anxiety.

Originally from North Carolina, Danielle brings a wealth of expertise to her role. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, and exploring new cuisines as a dedicated foodie.
